This cheese was acquired through our one year engagement with the alpine farming culture in Guttannen, Switzerland. By leasing a cow from Vreni, a local farmer, we receive an annual amount of 180kg of cheese. To produce it, there is a system in place where the residents of Guttannen clear the common pastures year by year. This commoning practice sustains individual livelihoods while being in constant reliance on the collective.

The principles of managing shared ressources collectively, we applied to the context of the Dutch Design Week. As we presented our work alongside the creative efforts of almost 200 other designers, we used the cheese as a shared ressource once again. By selling it to the visitors of the show, we celebrated not only the one project that we had behind us, but also acknowledged the interdependence of everyone involved in making it possible.
