Käsesyndikat kept us in conversation for six days straight at Villa Bagatti Valsecchi, right beneath the roof of Valentin Klauss’ neatly designed kiosk. During these days a lot of cheese exchanged hands - at radically negotiated prices - thanks to long, thoughtful conversations with an incredibly engaged audience at Alcova Milano. All of it wrapped in the narrative rich packaging paper designed by our dear friends Scinema.
Käsesyndikat invited Alcova’s audience to join an experiment of negotiating the value of cheese brought from the Swiss Alps. Through a dialogue-based process at the counter of our kiosk, visitors not only purchase cheese but also engage with the social fabric that enabled its journey from the farmer to the Alcova. While packaging the cheese themselves and listening to the stories from the Guttannen, the place where it is produced, they create their own narrative strands. With a timer build into the installation, the question arises, which parameteres dtermine its value – the longer they stay, the cheaper the cheese.
